That clash is what you take to your manager. The workload conversation worksheet puts this on one printable page.
Writing it down is worth the time. A 2021 review of 158 studies, covering 53,957 people, found that those with stronger time-management habits reported better well-being and less distress, and did somewhat better at work (Aeon, Faber & Panaccio, 2021). The studies were mainly one-off surveys, so they link the two without showing that planning is the cause. And no list makes an impossible week fit: if the hours still don't add up once everything is in order, that's the conversation to have next.
